Birth...

“Birth is an opportunity to transcend. To rise above what we are accustomed to, reach deeper inside ourselves than we are familiar with, and to see not only what we are truly made of, but the strength we can access in and through birth.”

—Marcie Macari

Birth photography is such an emotional roller coaster for me. I laugh and I cry with you as you bring new life into this world. It is also amongst the greatest of honours for me as a photographer to be part of such a powerful and shaping moment in your life.

My aim is to document every moment of your journey. Mothers often forget those small details as we are so hyper focused on achieving the end goal of meeting a little person that you have created!

I catch those special moments that are otherwise missed - the look on your face as you go through yet another contraction, the look on your partners face as you push, the love and support between you and your labour support team, the moment your baby takes their first breath, and the moment that you lay eyes on your brand new baby, just to name a few. I capture it all.

What happens before my labour?

I will meet up with you before you book in to chat and make sure that I am the right fit for your birth experience. After all - this day is all about YOU! If you decide to book in with me, we will meet up again before the big day to go over your birth plan and all the finer details.

What do we pay up front?

Upon booking you need to pay a $200 retainer fee - this fee firms up your spot in my calendar. I take limited birth bookings each month to ensure my availability, and that I have care for my own children while I am with you in your moment. I highly recommend that you make contact with me ASAP once you decide to book me as your birth photographer to avoid disappointment. The remainder of your birth package is due one month prior to your due date.

What does this session include?

Your birth package includes me being on call for you, 24 hours a day, from about 38 weeks gestation. I will come to your home/hospital once you have reach 5-6cm dilation. I will then stay for about an hour after birth to capture all the special first moments with your baby. It is super important that you stay in close contact with me in the lead up to your due date. If I miss a birth due to illness, or because you have a SUPER speedy delivery I can refund monies paid (or it can go towards a different session booking with me)...if I miss your birth because you haven't kept in touch, any monies paid are non-refundable. If you have a very fast birth, but I am still present, I will stay longer afterwards or come back at a later time to document some fresh 48 memories for you.

Often if you end up needing a c-section, hospitals only allow one support person in with you - and of course this will be your partner. I can still stay and capture the moments before and after the birth of your baby.

You will receive all the professionally edited digital images from your birth.

What happens during my labour?

During your labour, I am essentially a fly on the wall. I stay out of the way to ensure I don't interrupt the flow of your birth and capture everything as it happens - all the raw and uncensored emotions. I do not direct or pose you in any way - this is your story and I want to document it as it happens.

I will only photograph what we have discussed during our catch ups before you give birth. You don't want any pics of 'the business end' - that's not a problem...again this is all about you and documenting your moment.

I will only share your images on social media/my website if I have permission from you. I want to show just how beautiful the labour experience is, but I understand and appreciate that some people don't want to share this moment.
